It is typically used in combination with gun drill shanks and indexable gun drill heads (such as single-flute gun drills and BTA deep hole drilling systems) to achieve excellent hole straightness, surface finish and chip evacuation under high-pressure coolant, especially crucial for deep holes with extremely high length-to-diameter ratios or precision machining of small-diameter bores.
